ABLE

Redefine what's possible.

Based on a true story of courage,
determination, and inspiration.

After giving birth to a baby with Down syndrome, a mother moves heaven and earth to ensure her daughter lives a life that redefines what's possible.

Why this story?

When Amy and Rick Kosmalski welcome their daughter, Kayla, they’re shocked by her Down syndrome diagnosis. Determined not to let others define Kayla’s future, Amy pushes against every barrier, ensuring Kayla exceeds all expectations — reading at four, thriving in a traditional classroom, and pursuing her dreams. But as Kayla faces rejection and social isolation, Amy questions whether she’s pushed too hard. In a powerful moment, Kayla takes control of her destiny, showing that while you can’t change everything, giving your all leaves no room for regrets. This heartwarming, inspiring film, narrated by Amy and Kayla, is for anyone facing the seemingly impossible.

THE REALITY

When new parents are told their baby will have Down syndrome, they're often given a message of fear rather than hope.  As a result, the vast majority of babies with a prenatal Down syndrome diagnosis in the U.S. are terminated.  In some countries, it's as high as 100%.  Yet, studies show that families raising a child with Down syndrome are often happier and more fulfilled.

Children with Down syndrome are constantly redefining what’s possible, and Kayla Kosmalski is one of thema member of the Honor Society, a cheerleader, and the first young woman with Down syndrome to win a state pageant title.

By telling her story, we aim to change the narrative around Down syndrome in a way nothing else can.

That’s our mission.

A WORD FROM THE DIRECTOR

I don't believe in accidents.

In 2018, I heard Amy Kosmalski speak about the advocacy work surrounding Down syndrome that she, her husband Rick, and their daughter Kayla were involved with.  At that time I was working as an actress and trying to help my four children do the same.  However, I had long dreamed of moving behind the camera, writing meaningful stories that the world needed to hear.

Form Films had long dreamed of moving toward creating narrative feature films like the ones I wanted to write.  Amy and Rick Kosmalksi had long dreamed of a more impactful way to make the world a better place for those with disabilities.  Our three separate dreams have collided with the story of ABLE.

But there’s one more important piece to this story — you.

To make ABLE a reality, we need allies.  This isn’t just about making a movie. By supporting this project, you’ll help create a film that inspires, uplifts, and advocates for a better world.

I’m a big believer in divine providence.  I don't believe it was an accident that my path led me to Amy.

I also don’t believe it’s an accident that your path has led you to ABLE.
